Established in 1996 by Verna and Bill Brown, our humble beginnings stemmed from sharing produce from our home garden. Since then, we’ve evolved into a vital resource for numerous families throughout Florida.
Dedicated to making a tangible impact in the lives of families grappling with food insecurity, our core values revolve around compassion, community, and the fundamental belief that no child should ever endure hunger. Our reach extends across Northwest Central Florida, targeting regions with elevated poverty rates. In addition to regular food distribution, we extend disaster relief assistance within Florida and neighboring states, ensuring that families affected by unforeseen circumstances receive the necessary support. Our History
Founded in 1996 by Bill and Verna Brown, our journey began with a humble garden and a heart full of generosity. Bill, affectionately known as “Mr. Bill,” shared his bountiful harvest with neighbors, sparking a movement of kindness.
As a foster parent, Bill’s compassion caught the attention of the Florida Department of Children and Families, who recognized his potential to make an even greater impact. From that moment on, The Children’s Table flourished, growing from a simple act of kindness to a beacon of hope for families in need.
